For those that are placing these pads on original rear side panels, you can leave the metal base on the underside of panel that has the two rectangular holes for the clips to go through - and instead just drill two new holes to the inside of each existing clip hole to apply the mounting screw and washer to the underside of the armrest plastic side cover. The screw and washer then would go from the underside - through the thin metal based plate, through thin plastic, and into the underside of the armrest pad - holding it in place
